Through his X account, the mayor of Cúcuta, Jorge Acevedo launched strong accusations against the regional attorney, Omar Javier García Quiñónezpointing out that the Public Ministry official has launched a persecution against him, to supposedly remove him.

In the video, Acevedo asks the Attorney General of the Nation, Margarita Cabello, to attend to your complaint and to focus your attention on the situations that have been presented for several days in the city of Cúcuta.

“The regional attorney, Omar Javier García, has been sending me a series of messages in which he says that he is going to remove, that today at 2:00 in the afternoon I should not go to the office because supposedly he is going to go with everything to get me out of there and it is a permanent actor in politics here in the city of Cúcuta”, Acevedo said in his statements.

The mayor assured that he had received information from the Government about the alleged intention that the regional attorney would have to remove him from his position.

“I believe in you, Dr. Margarita Cabello, I believe in the institution and I would like you to please put your eyes on the city of Cúcuta. Here there was a persecution a few days ago in the media and with many things that have been happening, so why not? Please, Attorney General’s Office (…) if something has to be done, it has to be done, but really within the framework of the law and not for political reasons, nor for political harassment,” the mayor pointed out.
