Santiago de Cali, April 23, 2024

The Cali Tourism Secretariat, together with the Government of Valle del Cauca, presented the tourism strategy that will be promoted at COP16, where the departments of the Pacific participated: Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Nariño and the RAP Pacific, with the objective of highlighting the tourist offer of the territories.

This proposal seeks to highlight the Pacific territories at COP16, highlighting their tourism potential and, in this way, contributing to their economic development. For this, tools will be implemented to make tourism in the region visible and alliances will be generated with the public and private sectors. “The fundamental thing is to focus on tourism, which encourages job creation, business growth and investment in infrastructure, strengthening the local economy and promoting long-term sustainability,” said Mábel Lara, Secretary of Tourism of Cali.

The Mayor’s Office of Cali has designed a comprehensive strategy where government entities and the private business sector will have offer areas during COP16. These areas will be equipped with tools and platforms designed to guide tourists, visitors and citizens of Cali. In addition, alliances and volunteer programs will be encouraged to enrich the experience and promote active participation in the promotion of local and territorial tourism.

“Undoubtedly, this alliance scenario is crucial for the Pacific, as it allows us to showcase our resources at COP16. This gives us the opportunity to highlight our gastronomy, culture and, of course, our biodiversity. For this reason, we face the challenge of uniting and, today, we offer a commitment to strengthen the tourism offer of our territories.” expressed Claudia Patricia Erazo Casabón, administrative director of Nariño Tourism.

For her part, Evelin Rojas, social communicator of RAP Pacifico, an entity that seeks to be an ally to integrate the Pacific territories, pointed out: “We appreciate the invitation that has been extended to us, which gives us the opportunity to analyze how we contribute to economic and tourism development. We express our gratitude to the Cali Tourism Secretariat for this gesture and for allowing us to be part of this growth in Colombia.”
