The rector of the National University of Misiones, Alicia Bohren, declared herself excited and grateful for the March for the Public University that took place in the country, and in Misiones, highlighting that, “in addition to the university faculty, families and even individuals participated. “They were not trained at the University, but they accompanied because they believe that public education is one of the main tools for development and social growth.”
And he praised the participation in Posadas, Eldorado and Oberá, despite the rain. “I am very proud and I want to thank the members of our University.”
He pointed out that “this discrepancy in operating expenses has generated an extreme situation within our university. We have restricted air conditioning and other services because we want to continue guaranteeing the continuity of educational processes.”
He said that “in March a 70% increase was unilaterally announced by the Undersecretary of University Policy, which did reach our University but that does not represent all of the resources.”
He added: “we ask for resources for research, extension and so on. Because we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
He indicated that they were asking for “a dialogue table to be able to have predictability and we have to guarantee this dialogue to be able to have predictability. We fully agree with all internal audits – We have audit links with Sigen (General Audit Office of the Nation), Unam was one of the 20 Universities that agreed to develop protocols and manuals.
He also specified that “the General Audit Office of the Nation (AGN) is the body in charge of the general audit. We are not opposed, we even develop social activities with our students to compensate in a certain way for this contribution that society makes through taxes.”
He stated that perhaps the statements about audits have been nothing more than “to discredit the role that the University has.”
