Buenos Aires, April 25 (EFE).- The relationship of the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, with his dogs has raised controversy in the country, after doubts arose about how many dogs he interacts with and about the state of health of his mastiff Conan , of which the president spoke interchangeably as alive and as dead.

The presidential spokesman, Manuel Adorni, considered this Thursday a journalist’s questions regarding Milei’s pets “disrespectful.”

“It means messing with your family, and it seems to me that we have to stop talking about certain issues,” considered the spokesperson in his daily press conference at the Casa Rosada (seat of Government).

Adorni criticized those who question the president’s suitability for his position after learning of Milei’s daily routine with his dogs at the Quinta de Olivos presidential residence.

According to the president in an interview with CNN at the beginning of April, his “four-legged children”, whom he visits at the beginning of each day at the Quinta de Olivos (presidential residence), are five – Conan, Murray, Milton, Robert and Lucas – and not four, as he had repeatedly stated in the past.

Before and during the election campaign, the president said on several occasions that his first mastiff, Conan, had died in 2017, although the ultra-liberal has always spoken about the animal in present terms.

Milei claimed on several occasions that Conan had been “cloned” several times and, according to journalist Juan Luis González in the book ‘El Loco’, an unauthorized biography of the president, he communicated with the animal through a medium and that even his sister, Karina Milei, would have learned these skills so that the ‘dialogue’ would be with her participation.

The truth is that Milei has never been very clear regarding his valued pets, which were already controversial at the beginning of his mandate, when the high costs involved in preparing a separate space for the animals in the residence were questioned. presidential and that the president said he was going to pay for out of his pocket.

The president’s environment downplays this aspect of the personal life of Milei, a political leader known worldwide for his extravagances.

“If the president says there are five dogs, there are five dogs. (…) I don’t understand what makes it different to you if there are four dogs, five dogs or 43 rabbits, what is the difference?” Adorni said when asked days ago, also at Casa Rosada.

In the streets of Buenos Aires, Milei’s dogs star in advertising posters, graffiti against the president and are used repeatedly in banners displayed during demonstrations.

“Conan does not exist” is the most repeated slogan among those who argue that talking about the far-right dogs is not trivial.
