A man from Corrientes was arrested on a route in Chaco with more than 160 kilos of marijuana

Near the Chaco city of Gancedo, on National Route 89, the National Gendarmerie stopped this Thursday the advance of a car, guided by a person from Corrientes, in which they found 162,729 kilograms of marijuana.

It was during a road control carried out by members of the Gancedo Fixed Patrol, dependent on Squadron 1 “Roque Sáenz Peña”, where they delayed the advance of a Chevrolet Corsa, occupied by a single person.

It was determined that the man from Corrientes left the city of Resistencia, Chaco, bound for Quimilí, province of Santiago del Estero, shortly before.

The control was carried out while the personnel were carrying out their tasks at kilometer 311, of the aforementioned road corridor.

After requesting the respective documentation, the gendarmes saw large packages in the back seats, so they asked the driver to verify what they were.

They were able to notice that he was transporting a large number of pressed breads, which at first glance looked like narcotics, which is why they informed the Federal Court, which ordered that the procedure move forward.

During the search of the back seat and the trunk of the vehicle, the uniformed officers detected the existence of nylon bags that contained rectangular packages, similar to those used to transport drugs, which contained a brownish substance.

From the results of the field tests -narcotest- carried out by Criminalistics and Forensic Studies gendarmes, it was found that it was indeed “cannabis sativa”, reaching a total weight of 162,729 kilograms, distributed in 179 rectangular packages.

Consequently, the Roque Sáenz Peña Federal Presidential Court ordered the seizure of the vehicle, the substance, as well as all documentation of interest to the case.

Meanwhile, the man from Corrientes was detained incommunicado after the start of proceedings for alleged violation of Law 23737, on drug trafficking.
