• Conventional athletes and those with disabilities will receive monthly financial support, in addition to technical assistance and support from coaches and methodologists of the Institute.

• Of the 127 athletes selected, 67 are men and 60 women, distributed in 91 conventional and 36 adapted disciplines. The monthly investment is 190 million pesos by Indeportes Atlántico.

Barranquilla, April 25, 2024. The Government of Atlántico, through the High Performance coordination of the Departmental Institute of Recreation and Sports, Indeportes, issued Resolution 00060 that makes official the inclusion of 127 athletes in the Supported Athlete program for the season 2024, both in conventional and adapted sports.

From the general list in total there are 67 men and 60 women, who will represent us in 91 in conventional sports and 36 in disability, to complete the 127 athletes, who will receive a monthly stimulus of 190 million pesos from Indeportes.

The athletes, in addition to the money that the Institute will give them, will also have comprehensive support in their preparation for competitions at the national and international level.

“We increased by 27 athletes compared to 2023, going from 104 to 127 athletes in this successful Indeportes program. We want our athletes to feel supported and accompanied by the Institute, and to proudly represent Atlántico in competitions, as they have done in the past,” said Iván Urquijo, director of Indeportes Atlántico.

“This year we have a great commitment since they are the first National Youth Games where we hope to show all the youth talent we have in the Atlantic and continue leaving our flag at the top,” added Urquijo.

One of the beneficiary athletes, Leonard Bermúdez, a young Colombian boxing prospect, shared his enthusiasm for being part of the program: “I feel happy and motivated knowing that I will receive monthly support. This drives me to continue earning for my department. “They always make me feel important in the Indeportes offices, which stimulates me as an athlete.”

Gianluca Bacci, High Performance coordinator at Indeportes Atlántico, highlighted that this program motivates athletes and stressed the importance of maintaining good results to remain in it.

“Whenever we talk to them we notice their motivation and interest in being in the program, they know how much this support means. The important thing here is to maintain good results and not give up, and that the athlete who is not on the list now knows that, if he makes good marks and achieves important things in 2024, the next year he can enter the program on his merits.” Bacci noted.
