The Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, in governor’s company Cupcake, municipal mayors and the military and national police leadership held an expanded security council in response to the request of the departmental government in order to define measures to counteract the actions of criminal structures that operate in the Caribbean Trunk.

During the discussions, the mayor of the Banana Zone, Claret Olayarequested the creation of the fifth district which will come into operation in a month and a half that will concentrate all police specialties in the municipality, as well as the installation of a Prosecutor’s Office headquarters with the aim of streamlining judicial processes.

For the municipality of Foundation, the mayor, Luz Helena Andrade, requested intervention and greater support from the Public Force in its territory. Among the requests is technological support, to improve the operations and tactical reaction of the Police, in order to reduce different crimes such as extortion and theft in this part of the Magdalena department.

Likewise, the local leader described the meeting as productive where he was able to make known how the municipality is in terms of security.

For his part, the Governor of Magdalena, Rafael Martínez, requested the Minister of Defense, the Army Command, the Director of the Police and the Attorney General’s Office to expedite the investigation processes that will account for about actions and efforts by businessmen and farm owners in the region.
