In the middle of a session, the regional director of SENDA Tarapacá, Alejandra Zúñiga, presented the local governance model to the Huara Municipal Council, which was headed by the mayor, José Bartolo. The new model will be presented in the municipal councils of the seven communes in the region.

The regional authority explained that the model places the municipalities with marked leadership, which promote preventive strategies, programs and policies in the commune, relevant and in accordance with the characteristics of each territory.

Zúñiga highlighted that a fundamental pillar for this model is the commitment of the local authority, the participation of the intersector and the citizen as key elements to build more efficient actions relevant to local needs.

The installation of this governance considers the generation of products that allow planning and organizing work in the communities. Among those that stand out, the design of a community diagnosis and the community management plan, this will allow the work to be guided, allowing the reporting of the interventions that will then be presented to the local authorities.

This strategy seeks to actively involve citizens in identifying needs and developing action plans that strengthen protective factors against drug use.

The goal will be to promote community work through targeted neighborhoods of the SENDA Previene program, present in the seven communes of the region. “We want our actions to be aligned with the needs and characteristics of each place and with the active participation of the municipalities,” she emphasized.

For his part, the mayor of Huara, José Bartolo Vinaya, expressed that “we are happy to renew our commitment to SENDA, through this action plan that addresses prevention policies. We have an extensive territory, which is why we hope that, on this occasion, we can reach all the towns that make up Huara with greater coverage. We would like you to continue promoting actions such as training and workshops for our children and adolescents, since they are the future of our community and we could strengthen their capacities as leaders of the future.”
