A 25 year old Colombian identified as Jesus David Londono Astaiza was formalized this Friday in the Punta Arenas Guarantee Court for the consummated crime of robbery with homicide: The Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of having murdered another young man with more than 20 stab wounds inside a motel room.

According to the Public Ministry, the victim and perpetrator were drinking alcohol in a night establishment on Errázuriz Street and, at approximately 05:20 in the morning on Saturday, April 20they entered the Platinum Motel.

The accommodation was paid for by the victim, who – once inside the room – was attacked with a knife and received more than 20 stab wounds in the cervical, thoracic, cranial and extremities areas.

“Without the possibility of resisting, (Londoño) appropriated – for profit and without the will of its owner – your debit card, jacket and cell phonespecies with which he left the establishment at 06:05 hours”, while the affected person “died in the (same) place due to acute anemia”, detailed the Judiciary.

He regional prosecutor of Magallanes, Cristián Crisostostated that the subject acted “taking advantage of the victim’s gender identity”and “with the aim of appropriating species (materials), he stabbed him to death.”

He guarantee judge Juan Villa imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention on Londoño Astaiza, considering that his freedom constitutes a danger to the security of society and that there is a risk of escape.

In addition, the deadline for the investigation was set at six months.

The Prosecutor’s Office will continue investigating these events through its Gender Unit, we are going to ask for the highest penalties establish the law for this crime and we will continue working together with the police to provide greater degrees of security to the Magellan community,” Crisosto stated.
