Pereira’s symphonic band dazzles with cinematographic performances.

Last Saturday night, the Santiago Londoño Theater became the epicenter of symphonic music in Pereira, with an unforgettable gala starring the city’s Symphonic Band. Before a dedicated audience, the 47 professional musicians directed by maestro Juan Pablo Noreña, captivated with a repertoire that fused the classic with the contemporary, taking those present on a sound journey full of emotions and surprises.

In this unique presentation, the Symphonic Band did not skimp on variety or quality, offering masterful performances of works such as the Symphonic Dance, Op. 117 by James Barnes, the Candida Saga by Bert Appertmont and Godzilla Eats Las Vegas by Eric Whitacre. Standing out among these pieces was the suite No. 1 Alfa by Juan Carlos Valencia, which closed the evening with its movements Preludio, Currulao, Pasillo Canción and Bambuco, leaving the audience ecstatic and eager for more.

Maestro Noreña, in reference to the concert, expressed his gratitude to the audience, highlighting the receptivity and enthusiasm with which the selected works were received: “We were accompanied by a phenomenal audience that welcomed these works that we selected with a lot of love. We performed, among others, a work called Godzilla Eats Las Vegas, in which the musicians not only had to play the instrument; They also had to dramatize the play with shouts, whistles and acting, and the audience loved it.”

The Pereira Symphonic Band, recognized for its versatility and artistic excellence, not only stands out in the interpretation of classical repertoires, but also actively participates in the cultural and social life of the city, bringing music to different spaces and audiences.

From the Secretariat of Culture of Pereira, all citizens and visitors are invited to enjoy the concerts offered by this outstanding group, as well as to explore the educational services provided in the Musical Training Schools, which have wide coverage and benefit to nearly 6,800 students in different musical areas. In addition, it is remembered that every Thursday at the Lucy Tejada Cultural Center the traditional retreat is presented, and on the last Thursday of each month, the gala concert with the Symphonic Band, events that enrich the cultural offering of the city and promote access to music for everyone.
