The preparation of twelfth grade students for access to university studies or higher-level intermediate technical specialties is one of the priorities in the work of the Provincial Directorate of Education.
Fernando Piña Cordero, director of Higher Secondary Education, reported that this year 1,361 students graduated from the province’s pre-university schools and 48 have already secured direct entry to Higher Education.
Of them, seven Chemistry students, six Journalism students, five Nuclear Physics students and four Biology students are already at the University College; Meanwhile, nine entered their careers by being winners of competitions, 11 in specialties offered by the MININT and six through the Women’s Voluntary Military Service.
To take the entrance exams to Higher Education, as of May 7, 774 students committed, which represents 56.8 percent (%) of the total graduates; the rest opt for higher level technical careers.
Piña Cordero added that the General Directorate of Education has drawn up a work strategy that allows reaching the forecast of 50% of passes in the three subjects, thus exceeding the 43.9% of the previous year.
