The province of Tierra del Fuego participated – along with the other jurisdictions in the country – in the First Ordinary Meeting of the Federal Drug Council (COFEDRO) 2024, chaired by the Secretary of Comprehensive Drug Policies (SEDRONAR), Roberto Moro.

In this federal space, diagnoses are addressed and policies and strategies are discussed in order to “address the particularities of each province, so that intervention plans and programs respond to regional and local needs.”

During the meeting – which was attended by the Minister of Health of the Nation, Mario Russo – the new authorities of the organization were introduced, the work program for this year was announced and the intention to work with the provinces was expressed.

The Secretary of Mental Health and Consumption Problems, David De Piero, participated on behalf of TDF, who valued the “very good participation of the different jurisdictions” and stressed that the Province “continues with the commitment to assist and prevent consumption problems.” .

The aforementioned official considered that “for this it is essential to work both with the Nation and with the municipalities and organizations in the territory.”

Regarding the planning for this year, the Undersecretary of Care and Support, Silvia Pisano, announced the main lines of action for the prevention of problematic consumption, immediate care and a comprehensive approach from a community and therapeutic approach; while the Secretary of Drug Prevention, Research and Statistics, Gustavo Segnana, explained the areas of work in his charge: federal coordination, international relations and research and statistics, through the Argentine Drug Observatory (OAD). .

The head of the Observatory, Ernestina Rosendo, gave an account – in turn – of the tasks in terms of research, monitoring and evaluation and spoke about the approach carried out by the provincial drug observatories and the Early Warning System (SAT).

For her part, the national director of Prevention and Care, Lorena Puchetti, presented the lines of work on prevention in the workplace, education and other contexts.
