• Soto Palacios: “this tragedy demands immediate responses and concrete actions”

The president of the Consumer Defense Commission, Wilson Soto Palacios, has urgently summoned the Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho Mamani; the president of the Board of Directors of Osinergmin, Franco Chambergo Rodríguez; and the district mayor of Villa María del Triunfo, Eloy Chávez Hernández, to provide explanations for the gas explosion at the GESA station, affiliated with Primax, which left a devastating toll of one dead and more than 40 injured, affecting several blocks of the area.

After expressing his deep regret for the death of Carlos Enrique Flores Revollar, a worker who died in the incident, Congressman Soto Palacios regretted this tragic event that not only mourns a family, but also leaves more than 300 victims who require an immediate response from the local government and executive authorities.

In an effort to clarify the facts and ensure that those affected receive the necessary assistance, Soto Palacios announced that an extraordinary session of the working group has been called for this Friday, May 24 at 11 am in the Miguel Grau Room of the Congress of the Republic.

In addition to the aforementioned authorities, representatives of Grifo Espinoza SA and the general commander of the General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru (CGBVP), Juan Carlos Morales Carpio, have also been summoned, as well as neighborhood leaders from the four districts declared in emergency by government.

Legislator Soto Palacios stressed the need to obtain clear explanations about the events that occurred at the intersection of Atocongo and Pachacutec avenues in the Villa María del Triunfo district.

He insisted on the importance of knowing the concrete actions that are being taken to assist the victims and prevent a repeat of an event similar to the Villa El Salvador explosion in January 2020.

Soto Palacios made this announcement during the Eleventh Decentralized Public Hearing in Huánuco, focused on analyzing the problem of access and continuity of essential public services in the region.

The provincial mayor of Leoncio Prado, Anderson Fuentes Reynoso, participated in this event, along with officials from various supervisory organizations in the region and representatives of the regional directorates.
