Almost half a year after being recognized as the first non-banking regional acquirer for merchants in Latin America, the paytech Kushki obtains positive accounts on its operations in Chile.

In six months they experienced notable growth, reaching more than 11 million transactions, increased the size of their customer portfolio 10 times and are working on a new product to strengthen their payment solutions offering.

“Without a doubt, the fact that the Financial Market Commission has authorized us as a non-bank acquirer in Chile marked a milestone in the payments ecosystem, increasing competition, providing new technology and increasing our added value. This has helped us consolidate ourselves in the country, but it also opens the doors so that consumers and businesses can have a modern, secure and innovative payment solution,” said Rodrigo Quijada, country manager of Kushki in Chile.

During the beginning of this year, the firm reported double the processing of payments, 48% of these transactions came from national soil. For Quijada, the figures show “a growing interest among users in accessing fast and efficient payment systems.”

Between January and February 2024, the growth of transactions made by users increased by 122%. To end the year, the country manager projects that “we will exceed double the number of payments processed through our payment channels available in Chile.”

In addition, Quijada announced that they have already begun the process of a new product in the coming months. This is the acquisition in the “present card” mode of Kushki, which is already available in Mexico and will arrive in Chile to give multiple businesses the option of receiving in-person payments.

“We have already begun the process to bring our device for card-present transactions to Chile, a device for in-person payments that responds to our commitment to omnichannel and the great potential of the country. At Kushki we will continue working to guarantee that all businesses can receive any form of payment, anywhere and anytime,” the executive concluded. The above is a great novelty, since to date the company only processed online transactions.

During 2022 Kushki acquired the Mexican company Billpocket, which had more than 11 years of successful history as one of the first aggregators in Chile, a key element in facilitating electronic payments by operating as an intermediary between banks and companies.
