Magdalena is among the five departments of Colombia, with the largest number of selected organizations, where the National Government, through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, will make investments of more than 19 billion pesos, to benefit more than 680 units. productive activities in the tourism sector, among entrepreneurs, businessmen and community-based organizations.

In this package of departments, in addition to Magdalena, there are also Cauca, Tolima, Putumayo and Cesar, which will receive technical assistance and productive capital to enhance them.

69 percent of the beneficiaries are communal and social organizations, followed by communities and indigenous peoples with 13 percent. 74 percent of these productive units belong to women.

This is the first list of beneficiaries of the first national stimulus, incentive and promotion program for the tourism sector, Empretur. The beneficiary productive units have already been contacted or have begun their intervention processes.

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña Mendoza, highlighted that “this is the first state program that allows more direct access to resources for the tourism development of Colombia, the country of beauty.”

“It is a decentralized way of executing the tourism budget, with which we reach territories that historically had not been taken into account in the distribution of funds for the sector,” said the official.

66 percent of the beneficiary organizations are led by women and 22 percent by young people. All of them belong to Raizal, black, mulatto, Afro-Colombian and indigenous communities.

THE CALLS

This begins the execution of the first four calls of the program: Community tourism at the national level, Community tourism for the Pacific Coast, Agglomerations and Factories of productivity and sustainability.

This implementation is led by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism through its four autonomous assets: Colombia Productiva, Fontur, iNNpulsa and ProColombia.

For the national call for incentives for community tourism, 1,438 applications were received from community-based organizations, which reach 3,224 productive units nationwide. 108 organizations were selected in the Amazon, Orinoquía, Andean, Pacific, Caribbean and Insular regions, from 24 departments and 90 municipalities, 39 of them PDET municipalities.

On the other hand, for the first time the Government of Change guarantees stimuli for the operation of agglomerations in the tourism sector, through the third call of Empretur in the departments of Amazonas, Arauca, Caquetá, Guainía, Guaviare, Putumayo, Sucre, Vaupés and Vichada.

In the call for Agglomerations, 21 projects were presented, including cluster initiatives, regional networks, work groups and other forms of organization for tourism purposes, which had to be made up of at least 10 productive units. Nine groups were selected, corresponding to chambers of commerce, tourism corporations, associations and foundations.
