Morales Ojeda congratulated the group of workers at the center and highlighted their work in the service of the Homeland.

«60 years ago today the Office of Historical Affairs was founded, thanks to the vision, sensitivity and personal commitment of Celia Sánchez. We congratulate all those who continue her legacy with so much love and provide the country with invaluable service.

The Office initially emerged to safeguard information associated with the final stage of the National Liberation War between 1952 and 1958, and then expanded its scope of action.

At the beginning, the first donated documents were in the possession of revolutionary leaders or in the possession of relatives of fallen combatants, members of columns and fronts of the July 26 Movement, and even groups in exile, opposed to the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. .

The Office’s archive is divided into printed documentation, photo library, sound deposit, audiovisual (which includes video or celluloid films) and deposit of museum objects, to which are added the video library and the newspaper library.
