Tomás Ross’s mother, Camila Gómez, continues her month-long walk to the Palacio de la Moneda in support of her son Tomás, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, whose medication costs 3.5 billion pesos. This Saturday, May 4, Camila heads to La Unión, Los Ríos Region, where she seeks to continue receiving support from the community.

As a result of the situation, the mayor of the Coyhaique commune, Carlos Gatica, in conversation with Aysén Regional Newspapersays he empathizes with the family and announces, exclusively, that from Coyhaique he will seek to generate a great crusade in support of Tomás.

“I’m a father, so I put myself in the family’s case. Of course it is distressing and generates sadness, because the State does not provide aid to these cases that are specific,” he says.

“As a municipality we have supported each instance and we will continue to do so, today we are in conversations with different groups, organizations and media, where we are looking for a way to be able to generate a great day to support the family and bring in all the sum that have already put together, to be able to generate another contribution and for the State to also be able to generate a significant contribution,” says Gatica.

Finally, the mayor of the commune sends a message of hope to the family, pointing out that the municipality is not indifferent to the cause. “Hopefully we can reach the goal and the family can be calm. We are not resting, we are waiting to see what we can do to help Tomás,” he concludes.

His mother will walk a thousand kilometers looking for support to save her son’s life.
