This Saturday afternoon, another accident made the news in San Juan. This time, it happened on Route 20, just over 1 kilometer from the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Airport. There, a reckless driver tried to make a U-turn, but did not notice the arrival of a taxi, which was carrying passengers, and was hit.
This was indicated by judicial sources, who confirmed that everything happened at 7:40 p.m., when Mario Rolando Rodríguez, aboard his Toyota Tios, was traveling on Route 20 and stopped in the south lane. Then, he tried to turn around to return along the same route to the west.
That bad maneuver caused the taxi driver, Jorge Oliva, to hit him squarely when he was heading east on the Route. In fact, he passed by when he was transporting two passengers, identified as Lidia Quiroga and Rubén Aciar.
Given this scenario, personnel from the 31st Police Station had to intervene, together with health professionals, who assisted the parties at the scene. In principle, none of them suffered injuries, but the daughter of the taxi passengers requested that her parents be transferred to the Dr. Guillermo Rawson Hospital for a more exhaustive check.
It should be noted that officials from the UFI Special Crimes, led by prosecutor Mariano Carrera and prosecutor assistant Agostina Ventimiglia, also participated in this incident.
