This Saturday the second meeting of “Armar la Ola” was held, an open space that calls for debate on different issues that affect society. On this occasion the focus of the debate was “The world of work”, in a particular context: while the Javier Milei government’s project that makes employment more flexible and puts workers’ rights in check is advancing in Congress.

The event, coordinated by former provincial deputy Leandro Busatto, took place at the Santa Fe headquarters of Festram, the Federation of Municipal Workers Unions, and included the participation of national deputy Eduardo Toniolli; the provincial deputy Lucila De Ponti; Rosario councilors Juan Monteverde, and Caren Tepp, from Ciudad Futura; Mariano Romero, from the Evita Movement, and Norma López who confirmed her departure from the National Militancy Current a few days later. And the councilor of Santo Tomé Rodrigo Alvizo also participated.

There were three participatory panels. One of them by Jesica Plá, on “The challenges of work in the era of inequalities.” Jesica is a sociologist, teacher, researcher at Conicet and granddaughter of Norma Plá, a symbol of the struggle and resistance of retirees during Menemism in the 90s, when Minister Domingo Cavallo applied the economic policies that President Javier Milei demands today.

Marco Kofman and Lavih Abraham spoke on “Workers, wages and economy in today’s Argentina.” Both make up Mate (Mirador de la Noticias, del Trabajo y la Economía). For his part, Eduardo Toniolli spoke about “Community, social, solidarity and popular economy.”

“Building the Wave is an attempt to start building from the bottom up, from the outside in. To summon different sectors of society not to listen, but to give their opinion, to be a part. “This is not the time to be dogmatic, nor to close, but to open,” said Busatto.

“Today people are having a bad time and with this government it is going to get worse and worse. Not because I am pessimistic, but because they are the same models that Martínez de Hoz and Cavallo already applied, and they failed. That is why these spaces are necessary: not only as a meeting place, but as a place from which we can think about another future,” concluded the former Kirchnerist legislator.
