Despite the great movement that is seen during the weekends, the night of Jujuy cannot escape the current situation that the country is going through. So much so that the dance club sector in the capital of Jujuy is facing “a significant level of recession” driven fundamentally by increases in rates and taxes.

The president of the Chamber of Dance and Related Confectionery Entrepreneurs, Daniel Toffoli, in dialogue with The Tribune of Jujuy He was concerned about the increases in electricity service and other rates and taxes.

“We are in a significant level of recession and we have to find a way around it to continue working. The issue of raising rates is very difficult. Here Susepu authorized a number of increases that have no justification and the national ones have not yet arrived. And we know that a new increase will come when the national government settles with the energy generators,” said the businessman, highlighting that they suffer the same situation as any family and any commercial business.

Inevitably, attendance at dance venues also decreased, although not to a large extent; nightlife entrepreneurs detected that more and more people are looking for free tickets to the clubs. It is notable that attendance is higher on days when promotions are launched, such as: free admission until 2 if you attend with a garment of a certain color.

Also, a phenomenon that everyone observes is that before people went to the bowling alley every weekend and now they choose which “weekend” they do and which “weekend” they don’t, reducing monthly attendance by at least half. But something that definitely did not change is consumption since in recent times the price of the drink remains stable.

According to Toffoli, another of the big problems they face daily is the high cost of municipal fees and taxes, which increase at a rapid pace. “The biggest problem we have is that the municipality and the Police do not understand the level of economic problem that is being experienced because they continue to raise permits and rates as if we were in the best of situations,” he said after emphasizing that it is about fees that have no compensation whatsoever and that, in their opinion, are only for collection purposes.

“What we ask for is understanding from the authorities so that they do not continue raising rates and taxes indiscriminately and that they have empathy and let us work so that we can collect and pay what they charge us. Because if on top of that we “They charge more and more, they don’t let us work, it’s a deadly trap for us,” he said, referring to the constant checks they carry out in the middle of the night.

In this regard, he considered that the controls are disparate since they only focus on the dance clubs and not on bars that are located on El Éxodo Avenue and in Alto Comedero which, to his knowledge, charge admission, have the same activity as the dance clubs and They pay only like bars.

However, and despite all the setbacks, Daniel Toffoli indicated that at the moment there are no closures of clubs in the capital of Jujuy, but that they do see the need to resort to reducing profit margins and adjusting expenses, trying to maintain to the entire employee base to guarantee the proper functioning of the companies.
