Taekwondo: Santino Policelli, Pan American champion in Brazil

Santino Policelli from La Plata won the gold medal at the Pan American Kyorugui and Poomsae Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, achieving the only title for the Argentine delegation that also added one silver and two bronzes.

Policelli won the title in the -58kg category after defeating the Mexican Damián Cortés in the definition of the tournament. Meanwhile, Victoria Rivas closed the harvest in Kyorugui with the bronze medal in the -73kg category.

“A dream come true and a very special day for me. I thank my National Team coaches, who have always supported me since I started on my path as an adult competitor, we put in a lot of work and effort to achieve this victory,” Santino expressed on his social networks.

While in the poomsae events, Rubén Guagliarello won the silver medal in the under 40 individual event and Ángel Arana obtained third place in the under 65 individual category.

The Argentine team was made up of Cristian Correa, Santino Policelli, Victoria Rivas, Carla Godoy, Carla Díaz, Daniela Capolo, Antonella Matei, Thiago Stang and Mateo Di leo in kyorugui and Ruben Guagliarello, Ángel Arana, Margarita Echeverria, Rocío Fuentes, Isidoro Yucra, Alejandra Franzolini, Cecilia Cabella, Marcelo Abrigo, Alejandra Franzolini, José Luis Mariani, Luca Tust, Abigail Camareri, Pablo Velázquez and Malena Cortien poomsae.
