Holguín prepares for the entrance exams to Higher Education

Close to the application of the entrance exams to Higher Education, in the northeastern province of Holguín the details are being finalized so that this process takes place with total transparency.

Andrés Barea Páez, head of the Department of pre-university education in the General Directorate of Education, explained that the application headquarters throughout the territory are being prepared for this May 7 to begin with the Mathematics exam, followed by Spanish on the 10th and finally History, the coming 14th of the month itself.

“This year, 1,789 students filled out ballots, the majority of whom have received systematic preparation in our educational institutions, since during the week of teaching recess they remained in the classrooms,” said the director.

Raising the results this year is an aspiration that they do not give up and in that effort they have drawn up joint strategies with the University of Holguín. The forecasts point to reaching a 60 percent passing rate in the three subjects, while in Spanish a behavior similar to that of five years ago is expected.

Barea Páez recalled that, after the results are published, students have 24 hours to make a claim if they do not agree with the grade and review the public sample.

The process closes with the granting of the degrees, on June 5 it will be done for the approved students, then the failed ones and finally those who did not take the exams, but wish to continue studying at the university. In all cases, the offer and re-offer of courses is made for what remains of the places plan.

This year, 393 students obtained their degrees directly, through pedagogical and university colleges, among them: Journalism, the ISA, and others of interest in the province, such as Customs, Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine and through the modality of provincial and national competitions. .
