Within the framework of its environmental sustainability model called “Green Terminals”warehouse and logistics agencies Sitrans Located in Saint Anthony become the first 100% carbon neutral terminals in Chili.

It is worth mentioning that the Chilean logistics company began measuring the carbon footprint of its processes in 2020, which subsequently allowed it to implement actions to reduce its emissions in a “constant and responsible” manner, according to the entity.

Furthermore, under the commitment to care for the planet and with the idea of promoting its management in a “sustainable” direction, Sitrans decided to implement an environmental sustainability model called “Green Terminals”, under which today they convert their logistics terminals in San Antonio High and Low in Chile’s first carbon neutral.

“Terminales Verdes seeks to enhance the company’s management in matters of environmental sustainability, where an internal management model with clear metrics, objectives and challenges stands out to contribute to the care of the planet,” the company detailed.

The above is manifested in work related to energy efficiency, water care, circular economy programs and the development of an environmental and decarbonization culture, which has had a direct impact on a decrease in emissions of its carbon footprint in the scope 1 , 2 and 3.

Under this context, Rodrigo Servieri, HSE manager, area that promotes Environmental Sustainability processes at Sitranspointed out that “in our terminals we have implemented initiatives in matters of sustainable consumption, from the renewal of our fleet of fuel cranes with electric ones, reuse of water, acquisition of clean energy, packaging reuse programs, the change of conventional lighting for some more efficient, among many others, which has allowed us a very important reduction in our emissions.”

Thus, after establishing this management program and implementing actions in a systematized manner, Sitrans defined in its carbon neutrality plan the compensation of the impact that cannot be mitigated with the use of carbon credits. To this end, it certified the carbon neutrality (scopes 1 and 2) of its logistics terminals located in San Antonio Alto and Bajo through the corresponding license granted by SCX Santiago Climate Exchange.

In line with the above, Phillip Schaale, general manager of Sitranshighlighted that “this is a very important step for us, under our strong commitment to sustainability, we have set objectives and a clear path, moving towards carbon neutrality.”

“Although today, given the reality of the market and our business, it is not possible to mitigate the footprint of our operations by 100%, for us doing all this prior management is the right way to go, because it responds to a management system with a holistic perspective. long-term. And, on the other hand, contributing to projects with the compensation of carbon credits also allows us to contribute to the development of the country,” he added.

While, Hubani Manzo, Warehouse and Logistics Manager of Sitrans, maintained that “the fact of mitigating the impact of our operations and making our management more sustainable also allows us to review all our processes and how we are impacting the entire logistics chain, not only with our clients, but also with our strategic suppliers, collaborators and of course in the territories where we are inserted. Today our San Antonio upper and lower terminals are two of the largest sites we have throughout Chile, starting here has been a very significant achievement for us.”

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the company also adds to its management the certification seals granted by fingerprint quantification of Chile Footprintwhat has been happening in the last three years.
