The MOP highlights nearly 25 billion investments in road conservation projects in the province of Tamarugal

With an investment of 25,451 million pesos for the award of 5 contracts for the overall mixed conservation and conservation of the road network, design and engineering in the province of Tamarugal, the Seremi of the Ministry of Public Works Juan Papic Vilca was carried out.

Who, together with the Regional Director of Roads, showed the Presidential Delegate Daniel Quinteros and Tamarugal Delegate Camila Castillo what these road improvement works in the Tamarugal province will consist of.

Name of contracts awarded:

1.- Mixed Global Conservation by Service Level and by Unit Prices of Roads of the Tamarugal Province, Camiña – Colchane Sector, III Stage, Second Call, Tarapacá Region.

2.- Mixed Global Conservation by Service Level and by Unit Prices of Roads of the Tamarugal Province, Huara Colchane Sector, Stage III, Tarapacá Region.

3.- Conservation Route 5, Iris Office Sector – Bif. Former Victoria Office.

4.- Conservation of the Road Network, Periodic Conservation, Route A-515 and Route A-525, Emergency 2022, Province of Tamarugal, Second Call.

5.- Engineering Study for Improvement of Route A-750, Sector Crossing Route 1 – Crossing Route A-760, Tarapacá Region.

In this sense, the Regional Delegate of Tarapacá Daniel Quinteros said “today we have good news for the region and especially for the province of Tamarugal with news that helps improve routes and tourism in the region. Today begins the process of awarding global conservation contracts that will allow us to improve the routes and mainly the roads that go from Huara to Colchane and also the route that goes from the town of Camiña to Colchane. Two routes that have had problems and will now be repaired. Today a great effort is being made by the Ministry of Public Works to advance in this process of preserving routes and having connectivity between all the towns in the region.”

For her part, Tamarugal Delegate Camila Castillo highlighted, “This is good news, since the people of Tamarugal know and understand the importance of road repair. They are always consulted or informed about the status of the routes, since for the Tamarugal community, apart from connectivity, it is also vital in times of emergencies, this is how we experience it with the highland rains. This improvement is important since it demonstrates the capabilities of the MOP and its Roads unit, which allows us to have a significant investment in repairing the routes, which is why we highlight this good news for the province of Tamarugal.”

In this context, the Seremi of Public Works Juan Papic Vilca commented “we wanted to highlight that due to the mandate of our President Gabriel Boric and our Minister Jessica Lopez who call on us to strengthen the connectivity of rural localities in the regions, this time has made a significant investment close to 25 billion pesos in conservation of the road network and engineering design, with the idea of ​​improving connectivity in the province of Tamarugal. It should be noted that the awarding of these projects that today cover the conservation of such important routes as the one from Huara to Colchane and the town of Camiña and also sections on Route 5 where we will be recovering an important section like other sectors of this route. This is great news for the region, since we are meeting the needs of the people of the province of Tamarugal, since when the global companies are working in their entirety we will recover about 2,100 kilometers of the road network in the region of Tarapacá,” commented the authority.

This type of contract contemplates the conservation of existing road infrastructure, including; road marking, demarcation, road structural folder, and sanitation works. Layout changes and/or improvements to the road surface to a standard higher than the existing one are not considered. The maximum financing of the project will depend on the type of contract, whether for the Basic Roads or Road Network program.

These awards for road network conservation works in the province of Tamarugal will be put out to tender this year 2024 and can soon be developed to improve the quality of life and connectivity of the region.
