José Estiven Méndez Rincón, Walter Esneider Rodríguez Castro, Richard Ángel Blanco Gutiérrez, Duvan Steven Reyes Moreno and Germán Andrés Morantes Modesto are being prosecuted as allegedly responsible for the crime of theft from homes in Boyacá and Cundinamarca.

After associating several reports of robberies in residences in the two departments and collecting abundant evidence, the Attorney General’s Office identified a criminal network known as the ‘Phantoms’.

According to the investigating entity, this gang would be involved in at least 10 criminal events that would exceed 60 million pesos.

Those captured, who would be part of this illegal network, were presented by a prosecutor from the Boyacá Section before a guarantee control judge and charged as possible responsible for the crimes of conspiracy and qualified and aggravated theft.

“The evidence collected determined that the defendants apparently identified residences where celebrations or social gatherings were taking place and then, at night or early in the morning, entered the places and stole money, jewelry and other valuable items,” they stated in the prosecution.

At the request of the prosecutor in the case, the guarantee control judge imposed a custodial measure on those investigated in a prison facility.
