With the main interest of rescuing traditions and protecting the environment, the Frank País Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS), from Güira de Melena, takes on a Local Development Project in Playa Cajío, which is already beginning to bear fruit.

The actions advance on the basis of the Living Mangrove Project. Pablo Orlando Pérez Guzmán, president of this CCS, pointed out that they built a Latin American classroom with the objective of offering training to colleagues from other countries and from the locality, with a view to gradually improving attention to the environment.

In this area of the coastal area where the project is being developed, they are also building a ranch on the banks of the river that will serve the food of this area and the town, in order to contribute to the SSAN Law (Food Sovereignty and Food Security and Nutritional).

With the same purpose of supporting food, they are currently raising 100,000 fingerlings in the river that will contribute to rescuing traditions related to fish processing and will help make it available to those who visit Playa Cajío.

The president of the CCS highlighted the new employment opportunities for men and women in the coastal area, while fishermen in the area will have a stable place to sell their fish, since until now they lack a company or entity that buys from them.

Playa Cajío is a coastal area that longs to rescue traditions and with this new range of options the change that Güireños have been demanding for a long time is expected.
