Call from the Maule Health Seremi: Getting vaccinated against influenza is crucial

The Seremi de Salud de Maule, María Gloría Icaza Noguera, made an urgent call to the population to get vaccinated against influenza. She highlighted the increase in emergency consultations related to respiratory diseases, especially with the arrival of the cold. According to Icaza, although the syncytial virus has decreased compared to last year, cases of influenza and rhinovirus are on the rise. Influenza vaccination remains effective and is vital to protecting public health.

Regarding the availability of beds in health centers, the authority reported that, although there is an increase in hospitalizations, the regional and macrozonal hospital network, together with national coordination, continuously monitor hospital capacity. He highlighted that the system is better prepared and that available beds are monitored daily. Icaza emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated, especially for people over 60 years of age and pregnant women. He urged those who have not yet been vaccinated to do so as soon as possible, as vaccination is a critical measure to prevent the spread of influenza and reduce the burden on the health system.
