With more than 98 percent (%) of the votes in a free, direct and secret election, Milaxy Yanet Sánchez Armas was elected on May 4 as head of the Villa Clara Government, accompanied by Noel Cecilio Chinea Pérez, elected with more than 95% , ratified this Tuesday as the highest government authorities of the central geography.
With the presence of the Commander of the Revolution and vice prime minister of the Republic of Cuba, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, today the governor of Villa Clara, Milaxy Yanet Sánchez Armas and the vice governor Noel Cecilio Chinea Pérez take office.
The protocol ceremony for the formal reception of positions in this central geography is chaired by the member of the Council of State and vice president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Ana María Mari Machado. The member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and its first secretary in Villa Clara, Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez, attends.
Also participating are Alberto López Díaz, Minister of the Food Industry (MINAL), as well as Deputies to the Cuban Parliament.
Still excited by the symbolic beret of the Heroic Guerrilla, brought for the occasion from the Ernesto Che Guevara monumental sculpture complex, Sánchez Armas commented that “when each day ends we evaluate ourselves to see how much we did, and, above all, how much we still had to do in amid so many limitations with electricity generation, transportation, food and medicine. We should never put our head on the pillow without first thinking about what we could have solved that day and didn’t; this should be our premise and work tirelessly based on it.”
The governor gave a speech marked by gratitude for the constant work of the people of Villa Clara that make the socioeconomic sustainability of the region possible, which, she specified, must increasingly focus on raising efficiency rates in relation to food production.
The central words of the event were given by Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Villa Clara, who recognized the merits of the elected new government team.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic, the Governor and the Vice Governor are elected by the delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power, at the proposal of the President of the Republic, for a period of five years.
For the National Electoral Council (CEN), the elections took place in “a democratic day, with transparency and adherence to the Law, as we are accustomed to and characterizes the Cuban electoral system.”
