Bordet: “We meet to guarantee adequate financing of public universities”

“We are meeting today to guarantee financing for all Argentine public universities, not just one. “Education should not and cannot be a media or political loot,” said national deputy Gustavo Bordet (PJ-Entre Ríos) on Tuesday.

“Although we value the timely announcement of the national government, just a few hours before the debate in the Chamber of Deputies, adequate financing so that universities can function is essential,” he highlighted.

The former governor also highlighted that “the functions of the university, in addition to teaching, are research and extension. In Entre Ríos our universities have trained thousands of young people from Entre Ríos who produce knowledge and are proud graduates of the public system. This value cannot be subject to any profitability criteria, much less adjustment.”

As agreed this Thursday, with the support of different blocks, there must be an opinion on a law to guarantee university financing, and next Tuesday, on the replenishment of the Fonid, a fund that was distributed among the provinces to improve teacher salaries.

Regarding Fonid, the deputy recalled that he promoted, together with his peers, a bill that proposes the continuity for five more years of the National Teacher Incentive Fund in order to promote compliance with the provisions of Law No. 26,206 on National Education. that recognizes education as a national priority and state policy.

“Due to the loss of purchasing power that does not stop, our teachers have lost between 10 and 20% of their salaries that are retained by the national government by not liquidating the Fonid. We hope for the support of legislators to defend the interests of the people of Entre Ríos,” Bordet finally expressed.
