Quintela: “It is very important for La Rioja to make its mining potential known”

Governor Ricardo Quintela was present this Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the 10th San Juan Minera International Expo 2024, a highly prestigious event in the sector, which takes place from May 21 to 23 at the Cepas Sanjuaninas property, with the presence of companies mining companies, suppliers, foreign representatives and key actors from the public and private spheres.

In this context, the Rioja president stated that “it is very important for the province to be able to participate in this event and make its mining potential known. La Rioja is a virgin province in mining exploitation, we have a lot to offer, and we have our doors open to all investors who want to invest in our province.”

“We have all the minerals, similar to what San Juan, Catamarca, Salta, Jujuy have,” he noted. And he clarified: “All the provinces that border the Andes have an indescribable mining potential, and what we want is for this exploration and exploitation to be for the benefit of Argentines and not only for the benefit of investors, which is why we believe that the RIGI has “We have to have certain conditions to be able to be implemented so that our investors and industrialists can compete.”

Likewise, he explained that “in La Rioja the legislation says that all those who have not made any type of investment in two years, their licenses expire and they return to the province.”

Regarding the work with mining companies, Governor Quintela explained that “we have an associative policy, we associate between 25 or 35 percent of the profits that mining may generate in La Rioja, and conditions are also established with respect to the source of work”. “We need our people to work, our people to provide services, our industries to be able to provide the services and requirements of investors so that our province can develop,” he indicated.

Finally, Quintela specified that “at this moment we have seven companies in the process of exploration in the province, some of them have five drillings, others four drillings, where they are visualizing that there is a very important potential not only for lithium, but also for copper, gold, silver and zinc.”
