The town of Villa Elisa went into commotion this Tuesday night when eight residents of the city entered the San Benjamín de Colón hospital with signs of poisoning after eating stew.

One of the victims, 57 years old, died from poisoning and an 18-year-old young man is in intensive care. Doctors reported that the teenager is stable and that the medication worked.

The director of the hospital, Marcos Luciani, gave details of the health status of those hospitalized and what element could have caused the tragic meal.

“They were stable all night, special medication was obtained at the San Martín de Paraná hospital that arrived at five in the morning and helped the patients feel much better clinically and they are being discharged for another 24 hours of monitoring at the hospital.” Villa Elisa hospital,” said Luciani.

Regarding the symptoms with which these people were admitted, he reported that they had headache, vomiting and difficulty breathing. The deceased man entered a coma with a weak pulse and within 20 minutes cardiac arrest occurred.

The professional mentioned that “apparently they confused the salt with another product, which is what is being investigated by the justice system.”

“They are people who work in recycling and collect cardboard. We believe that accidentally in this recycling they have taken a package to their home and confused it when salting the food. We still don’t know what it is, it is under study, we make assumptions based on what the laboratory gave us, it could be nitro salt or cure salt, which is a salt used for sausages and we don’t know the amount they consumed,” he said.
