The exhibition is on display to the public on the ground floor of the 6 de Julio Palace. “Fumes of Cordobazo”made up of photographs of that popular feat and a video about the images.

The mayor Daniel Passerini He toured the stand and spoke with Guillermo Galíndez (cameraman) and his colleagues, all of them municipal inspectors at the time of the Cordobazo.

Galíndez was an amateur photographer who was 26 years old at the time. After the revolt he went to work and searched the Cordobazo the day after. Those files were hidden for more than 35 years and were revealed in 2005.

On historic May 29, Galíndez directed the traffic in Olmos and Maipú. He says that it was common for there to be marches, flash actions and takeovers of workplaces or runs through the center, but that that day there was something special in the air.

“That day there was a smell of fear, people on the street were tense, and many hurried to go home. The buses were beginning to stop circulating. “It was like when you see a storm approaching and you feel like something is going to happen,” he said.

On May 30 he went to work and carried six rolls of photos, as he earned some extra pesos by taking social images. He passed the Army checkpoints and photographed burned cars, barricades, destroyed businesses, and the amazed looks of neighbors who couldn’t believe what they were seeing. And yes, you also see boys and girls playing on public roads.

El Cordobazo, in the eyes of the youngest photographer who portrayed the revolt

Galíndez, knowing the material he had obtained, kept it hidden in different places. He even kept them in some pipes, where rust ruined many of those negatives.

But more than 150 shots survived and in 2005 a group of Municipality inspectors invited him to develop his photos. He carried out almost artisanal work, he obtained the chemicals, paper and an enlarger and his record was exhibited to integrate the memory of all the neighbors.
