The EBAU brings together 310 students from La Rioja Baja in Calahorra

María Ángeles Martínez Calvo, vice-rector for students and university extension, recalled this Monday in Calahorra, just before starting the EBAU, that of the 1,540 students who take the exam in La Rioja, 310 do so at the IES Marco Fabio sports center Quintiliano and in the Europe pavilion.

The start of the tests took place completely normally and with the inevitable nerves of the students. The majority consider that they arrive at this phase with good preparation and the most feared thing is the time they have to complete the answers, especially in language.

Today they begin with language and the subjects of the general phase are examined. They will continue with English and this year, as a novelty, they can choose between the history of Spain and the history of philosophy, this afternoon. In this case, he comments that, at the level of all of La Rioja, there has been a balance in the choice (more than 700 in each one) and that 51 kids have chosen both because depending on the grade they want to take, they may score both in the weighting parameters of each university and that is why they choose to take both exams.

Tomorrow there will be the modality subjects and then the voluntary phase in the remainder of Tuesday and Wednesday the 5th.

Regarding the future of the EBAU, he speaks of uncertainty in all aspects. “We are awaiting a royal decree and we do not know what the next course or the subsequent ones will be like,” he says.

In general, he cites that compared to last year the number of students taking the EBAU has increased by more than a hundred.

“I look well prepared”

“I would like to study Artificial Intelligence Engineering because it seems very interesting to me and it is the future,” he comments. He wants to go to the Polytechnic University of Madrid and as an option the Complutense University, also in the capital of Spain. If you cannot access these studies, you would not care about any other studies related to science (mathematics, physics…). «I look well prepared. I have studied a lot and the only thing I have wrong is the length of the exam. This makes me nervous because I know the subjects, but in an hour and a half, maybe putting in some extra things takes away time for others,” he says.

«What I fear most about the first day is language»

Susan Marieth Reyes Ibarguen aims to study Aerospace Engineering in Madrid, specifically she is considering the possibility of opting for the Carlos III University of Getafe or Rey Juan Carlos University of Fuenlabrada. As a plan b, she would not teach him another engineering (they still have to look at which one) also in Madrid.

«I have been preparing quite a bit. I started at the beginning of May and this week has been more of a review », she explains. «What I fear most about the first day is language because I don’t know if I will have time. I hope so. “I have everything very well prepared and memorized,” she adds.

«I would like to study Primary Education in Logroño»

«I would like to study Primary Education in Logroño. If it doesn’t work out for me, maybe I’ll do hairdressing here or Early Childhood Education here so I can later go to Primary School,” he says.

He has considered the possibility of studying in Burgos as another option.

For the EBAU, he believes that it can be approved and considers that he has prepared well. He has spent approximately a month and what he fears most is the language exam. “It is very long and there is no time to do everything in an hour and a half,” she says.
