Unemployment fell by 382 people in La Rioja in May and places the total figure at 12,972

The number of unemployed people registered in the Employment Offices of La Rioja fell by 382 people last May, 2.86 percent less compared to the previous month. In Spain, the number of unemployed registered in the offices of public employment services fell by 58,650 people in May in relation to the previous month, which represents a decrease of 2.2% in percentage terms, according to data published this Tuesday by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.

In the case of La Rioja, the unemployment rate stands at 8.06 percent, two tenths lower than the previous month. Regarding the interannual rate, there are 683 fewer unemployed people registered with the INEM than in May of last year, which represents a decrease of 5 percent compared to a year ago.

General decline

By sectors, unemployment has decreased in all sectors, with Services being the one with the most with 283 fewer unemployed. At a greater distance, Agriculture registered a decrease of 40 unemployed, compared to 26 in Industry and 25 in Construction. For its part, the group of Without Previous Employment has decreased by 8 people.

Thus, in general, of the 12,972 unemployed in La Rioja at the end of May, Services, with 8,168, continues to be the sector with the highest number of unemployed, followed by Industry, with 2,137, and Agriculture. , with 1,020.

Next is the group of Without Previous Employment, with 935, and closing the list with 712, the Construction sector.

Higher female unemployment

By sex, women are the majority on the unemployment lists in La Rioja, with 7,890, while the number of unemployed men reaches 5,082. The vast majority, 12,107, are over 25 years old, while 865 are under that age.

Regarding unemployed foreigners, the region has 2,541, with a decrease of 125 unemployed people compared to the previous month, 4.69 percent less.

Meanwhile, in the interannual calculation, it has decreased by 185 people, 6.79 percent less. The majority, 1,626, come from non-EU countries, while 915 are from EU countries.
