He told the Cuban News Agency that as a preventive measure, manual and mechanized cleaning of rivers, streams and canals, as well as manholes and gutters, is intensified, prioritizing those located in low areas and at risk of flooding.
He commented that these activities, strengthened at this time of year, are part of the corporate purpose of the institutions involved.
Although the necessary chemical products are guaranteed, for the sake of disinfection and drinkability of the water, it is advisable to store and boil the liquid for consumption, since the reservoirs contain excess iron and manganese, he noted.
For his part, Nelson Corona, head of operations and brigade in El Caney, confirmed the installation of a pumping equipment in the old well of the Forestry Company, which will be interconnected to the one in the Recreo area, with the purpose of solving and reduce the supply cycles of the precious liquid in various areas of that town.
Likewise, he confirmed the work at the La Ketty pumping station, to supply a tank of 1,500 cubic meters, which will benefit the population of the historic center and several high areas of the city.
According to the Institute of Meteorology, the fundamental oceanic and atmospheric conditions that regulate tropical cyclonic activity over the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea are favorable for the 2024 Cyclonic Season to be very active, with the formation of 20 tropical phenomena predicted.
