The round of governors visiting the Casa Rosada does not stop. In mid-April, several of them had passed by the office of the then Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos, so that the Base Law was approved in the Chamber of Deputies. Now the scene is repeated with Francos in another role, as the new Chief of Staff, but to get the necessary votes in the Senate, where the numbers would give the ruling party very fair for the project to move forward, even when it comes out with several modifications regarding of the original idea.

The first to arrive today at Balcarce 50 was the Cordoba president Martin Llaryora, who retired without making statements to the press. The second to meet with the greatest negotiator that the libertarian government has will be the man from Chubut Ignacio Torres. Later it will be the turn of the Neuquén Rolando Figueroa. They do not rule out that a heads-up could be added with Claudio Vidalfrom Santa Cruz, who yesterday agreed with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, to settle a debt with the Nation that was 23 billion pesos.

Llaryora belongs to the Peronism of his province, which maintains a line equidistant from the party at the national level. The governor was the one who shared with President Javier Milei the event on May 25 at the Town Hall of the Mediterranean capital after the May Pact was frustrated. He always showed his willingness to support the libertarian leader’s project.

Now, in addition, he is trying to have the possibility of continuing with the works on National Route 19 that connects Córdoba with the city of San Francisco transferred to him. For this reason, its Minister of Public Works, Fabián López, had already started negotiations with the national Executive. The reactivation of public works is a demand that the different provincial heads have been making because they consider that works with 40% completion could be completed with their own funds. Slowly the central administration is giving ground to decompress this situation.

Among the demands of some districts also appear the funds for the provincial retirement funds, that the National Educational Fund that Milei decided to cut and that served, in large part, as an extra incentive in the teaching sector be restored, and that the Compensation Fund be restored of Transportation, whose elimination causes serious distortions in the price of the ticket compared to those of the AMBA.

Rogelio Frigerio, governor of Entre Río with officials

Francos has already met with other provincial leaders for this reason who maintain a closer relationship with the Executive. On Monday of this week they stopped by his office – which is still in what was the Ministry of the Interior, his previous position – Rogelio Frigerio (Between rivers), Carlos Sadir (Jujuy) and Leandro Zdero (Chaco), with whom various agreements were signed for the transfer of 80 public works from the Nation to the provinces. He gave 14 works to Jujuy, 39 to Chaco and 27 to Entre Ríos.

With Llaryora, Frigerio and Maximiliano Pullaro, Francos shared an event on April 16 within the framework of the renewal of authorities in the Central Region. On that occasion, although he had told them that “don’t expect anything from the State because now there is no money, but there will be some,” he left them the promise that in the last half of the year, if there is a rebound in the economy, The help will reach the provinces.

In the meeting with Torres, who arrived at the Government House around 3 p.m., the Chief of Staff will also seek support from Chubut legislators for the Base Law. At the beginning of May, the national government had already signed an agreement with both Figueroa from Neuquén, with Torres and with Alberto Weretilneck (Río Negro) to be able to complete the construction of the Patagonian Gas Pipeline with provincial funds.
