Analyzing the accreditation process of postgraduate programs in the area of Engineering was the objective of the meeting held by the board of directors of the Corporation of Engineering Faculties of Chile (Condefi), with the National Accreditation Commission (CNA).

Condefi is an entity that brings together 35 faculties from various public and private universities in the country. Esteban Sefair, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, is a member of the entity’s current board of directors.

During the meeting, Condefi representatives raised the need to recognize the productivity orientations associated with program accreditation processes, in addition to work related to innovation and industry.

Regarding the meeting, its members assured that from postgraduate degrees, engineering faculties can respond to the country’s needs by developing technological capabilities that improve Chile’s competitiveness.

In this context, Condefi considers it essential that applied research, innovation and technological transfer receive the same recognition as the indicators used in scientific accreditation, since, as they explain, Engineering, by its very nature, is linked to the application of The science.

One of Condefi’s agreements with CNA is to participate collaboratively in the definition of new productivity guidelines that guide future program accreditation processes, and in particular, those of postgraduate and doctoral programs. This new definition will seek to guide the development of advanced human capital training programs in Chile towards the requirements of sustainable productive development.

With the aforementioned purpose, in the next session of the Extraordinary Assembly of Condefi, to be held on July 5 at the Finis Terrae University, the CNA will formalize this agreement, to later jointly define a joint work itinerary.

From Condefi they thanked the CNA for its openness and willingness to dialogue, reaffirming its commitment to quality and excellence in the training of engineers so that in this way they continue to contribute to the sustainable development and innovation of our country.
