Within the framework of World Environment Daythe Atlantic was chosen along with Antioquia, Bolívar, Sucre, Tolima and Valle del Cauca for eight ecosystem protection programs such as the Andean forest, tropical dry forest, tropical humid forest and mangrove forest.

This was announced by the Grupo Argos Foundationwhich leads these programs and works closely with rural communities to multiply the impact of their conservation efforts, which in 2023 allowed them to contribute to the conservation and restoration of 3,800 hectares and the protection of more than 16 water basins in the country.

“We are aware that all the efforts we make today will be decisive in the future of our ecosystems, which is why at the Grupo Argos Foundation we work with communities and allied organizations to promote the sustainable development of the regions and contribute to the conservation of species and the biodiversity of our country”, said Maria Camila Villegasexecutive director of the Grupo Argos Foundation.

During the last five years, more than five million trees of native species have been planted in the departments of Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Tolima and Valle del Cauca, which in turn has generated more than 1,630 green jobs, contributing to the restoration and conservation of more than 22,700 hectares of forest and mangrove.
