SATENA begins operation of 4 new routes to Acandí, Condoto, Quibdó and Bahía Solano

SATENAbegan the operation of three new routes between Medellin, Acandi, Condotoand another between Quibdó and Bahía Solano, as part of its commitment to the country’s connectivity and the economic and social development of the Pacific region. These operations are part of the Chocó 365 strategy, which seeks to connect all the municipalities of the department by air.

Major General Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, president of SATENA, stated: “We are proud to begin the operation of these new routes. This expansion reflects our firm commitment to the connectivity of Colombia and the development of the Pacific region.”

Route and aircraft details

The aircraft available for these new routes are B1900, with the capacity to transport 19 passengers per flight. This translates into 190 seats available weekly for routes between Medellín, Acandí and Condoto, and 114 seats for flights between Quibdó and Bahía Solano.

The frequencies are the following:

  • Medellín – Acandí: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:00 pm
  • Acandí – Medellín: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 3:40 pm
  • Medellín – Condoto: Tuesday at 12:10 pm and Thursday at 9:00 am
  • Condoto – Medellín: Tuesday at 1:25 pm and Thursday at 10:20 am
  • Quibdó – Bahía Solano: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8:50 am and 9:25 am
  • Bahía Solano – Quibdó: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10:05 am and 10:30 am

Tourism promotion and collaboration with FONTUR

In the launch of these new routes, SATENA, in alliance with FONTUR, promoted tourist destinations in the Colombian Pacific within the campaign “Travel through Colombia, the country of beauty.” Activities included promotional displays, Pacific musical performances and distribution of kits to travelers, highlighting the beauty and tourism potential of these regions.

Álvaro Balcázar, general manager of Fontur, pointed out that “air connectivity is essential to promote tourism in Colombia, a country of beauty. The opening of new routes to destinations in the Colombian Pacific demonstrates the commitment of the Government of Change to this region, including a comprehensive investment from Fontur in competitiveness, tourism infrastructure and promotion of destinations, with an investment of $1,102 million pesos.

In addition, SATENA announced that starting June 18 it will have daily operations from Monday to Friday between the airport Enrique Olaya Herrera from Medellín and the airport of the municipality of Acandiproviding travelers with greater flexibility and convenience in planning their flights.
