CAMAGÜEY.- Preserving the tradition of a sociocultural event with almost three centuries of history is the purpose of the celebration of the San Juan Camagüey 2024 which will take place from June 24 to 29.
Reynaldo Echemendía, president of the Paseo commission and director of the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet, assured this Monday at a press conference that in the midst of difficult situations, the most popular of the celebrations will be held in this city, the most important cultural event that occurs. en masse, with a high sense of belonging and one day we will achieve that it becomes a heritage of Camagüey and Cuban culture.
He also reported that at 12 pm on Sunday the 23rd, with the reading of the Bando from the balconies of the old City Hall, Dixamy Rodríguez Gómez, president of the Government in this municipality, will inaugurate the program that includes an artistic show with the floats of Culture and the 510, represented with national artists, conga parades, comparsas and other varieties.
On the 24th there will be a screening of the Rumba de las Chancletas in various parts of the city, while on the 25th locals will be able to enjoy the walk through the neighborhoods of the four districts and special places such as Madame Curie Avenue in the Previsora neighborhood, Avenida Julio Antonio Mella, the Lenin neighborhood, the historic center, La Caridad and the Casino Campestre.
A special Camagüey night is planned for the 26th in the Popular Councils where float 510 sponsored by Azcuba, organizations from Ciego de Ávila and Havana, will parade, with the purpose of identifying the anniversary of this city as an important event.
From Avenida 26 de Julio to Plaza de la Caridad, on the nights of the 27th and 28th, there will be the traditional rides that will feature five floats, six congas, three troupes, old monkey dolls, motors and bicycles, among other demonstrations.
On Saturday the 29th the celebration will close with the burial of San Pedro and on Sunday the 30th at 5:00 p.m. m the children’s ride will be in areas of Liberty Avenue that will also begin summer 2024.
Also a deputy to the National Assembly, Dixamy Rodríguez Gómez, said that these parties generate a great movement in different age groups who prepare spontaneously many months in advance.
It is an event full of spirituality and the most important thing is to keep our essences alive, to make the history of San Juan known because it means our identity, it represents our traditions, he added.
Rodríguez expressed that it will be carried out with the resources of the territory itself and with local talent, while a telephone number will be enabled so that the population can access it if they have any questions or suggestions, as well as the creation of a monitoring group in these enabled areas. for the enjoyment of the population from 6:00 p.m. m until 2:00 am
On this occasion, it stands out that around 90 percent of the participants in the organization of this event are young people and for the first time there is a QR Code where all the information and history of San Juan from Camagüey is found.
