Darío Martínez: «7 out of 10 families will be hit by new rate increases»

The former Secretary of Energy of the Nation, Darío Martínez, referred to the increases in electricity and gas prices and the modifications in consumption limits and stated that “it rained, it was wet. Since June, 7 out of 10 families will be hit by new rate increases of up to 155% ordered by (President Javier) Milei, powers that the DNU gives him and the Bases Law will give him even more.” He requested that the Governor of Neuquén, Rolando Figueroa “abandon his complicit silence.”

«Mr. Governor, abandon your complicit silence, andIt’s time to defend the interests and pockets of the people of Neuquén by opposing these high rates“, repealing the DNU from Milei and not giving him the votes for the Bases Law,” said the current provincial deputy.

«The combination of decree 465/24 that eliminated rate increase caps for low- and middle-income households; Resolution 92/24 that established the new seasonal price of Electric Energy; 90/24 that reduced the subsidized consumption limits for users N2 and N3, and 91/24 that established the new Gas values in PIST for the winter, will result in another huge tariff for the vast majority of Argentines«, he indicated.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Nation published the increases to the prices of energy products themselves, the so-called gas PIST (entry point to the transportation system), and the PEST of electricity (seasonal price). He also made a second change, which is the application of consumption caps to users who have subsidies.

«The hit in Electricity will be 155.9% for middle-income families and 99.3% for the lowest-income households, only if they do not exceed a monthly consumption in Neuquén of 500 kW/h and 700 kW/h respectively, because otherwise, the price will be even more brutal«Martínez pointed out.

Regarding gas and «right in the middle of winter, the new increase will be 55% for lower-income families and 64% for middle class households, as long as they do not consume more than 41 cubic meters per month, because otherwise the increase in bills will be greater,” he said.

The president’s DNU “that Figueroa protects with his legislators in Congress and the Base Law that the Governor sent to vote, are what allow them to put their hand in the pockets of the Neuquén people with these endless rates,” he noted, which is why he demanded the president’s position.
