The governor of Entre Ríos, Rogelio Frigerioannounced this Wednesday that it will pay nursing staff francs accumulated in previous years, when this methodology was used as a form of remuneration for work outside of hours. Furthermore, to put an end to this practice, from now on, the item will be implemented “Extension of the Working Day.”

The debt accumulated so far was 56,500 francs, which represented more than 1,500 million pesos, which will be paid starting in August of this year, between six and 12 installments, taking into account the status of the magazine (seniority, category , function) of each agent.

Accompanied by Vice Governor Alicia Aluani, the Mayor of Paraná, Rosario Romero and the Minister of Health, Guillermo Grieve, Governor Rogelio Frigerio visited the San Roque Maternal and Child Hospital in the provincial capital this Wednesday. In this framework, he communicated the decision to settle this debt that the provincial State has with around 5,000 professionals in the nursing sector.
“This is something that corresponds to them, we are not doing them a favor. It is something that we understand is linked to justice, good sense, common sense. Today we begin to travel down that path, a path that we should never have stopped walking. “Frigerio remarked. He explained that the francs owed are how nurses were compensated when they worked extended hours. In addition to recognizing this debt and paying it, the current government will begin to apply the extended work item for personnel who work more than eight hours.
On the other hand, the president highlighted that the measure was taken based on dialogue and “the joint work that we have been doing with the representatives of health workers.” It is important to highlight that the issue was raised by the Ministry of Health and dealt with on a sectoral basis, given that it was a demand from the unions.
The Minister of Health, Guillermo Grieve, highlighted the importance of the announced measure because “it is an economic and professional demand,” he assured and commented that this was one of the points that were presented to the governor and the ministers “for two issues that are important: on the one hand to pay these francs and give the workers what is theirs, and secondly, to modify the extension of hours, as an extension of tasks and not a franc.”
The system used up to that point then required the hiring of substitute personnel to cover those who took the corresponding francs, which generated even greater expense for the State.
Also participating in the event were the Secretary of Labor, Mariano Camoirano, and, representing the unions, the deputy secretary of the National Civil Personal Union (UPCN), Carina Domínguez, and the general secretary of the State Workers Association (ATE). ), Oscar Muntes. Within the framework of the event, UPCN made a donation to the hospital’s cooperator of six lounge chairs and three ceiling fans.
