Representative Hugo Archila emerges victorious in lawsuit for loss of investiture

The representative to the Chamber for Casanare, Hugo Archila, has obtained an important victory in the process of losing investiture. The Council of State rejected the claims of the plaintiff, Oromairo Avella Ballesteros, who alleged that Archila continued to exert influence on people who entered or left the mayor’s office from his position as a congressman.

The plaintiff tried to prove that Archila was involved in a case of influence peddling in both the Yopal mayor’s office and the National Savings Fund. However, the ruling of the Council of State indicates that the concurrence of all the necessary elements to constitute the cause for loss of investiture provided for in article 183, numeral 5 of the Political Constitution has not been proven.

Special Decision Room 11 concluded that it was not proven that Congressman Archila incurred the aforementioned cause. Therefore, the loss of investiture is denied. However, the plaintiff has the option of appealing this decision to the Special Chamber Eleven (11) of the Decision of Loss of Investiture within the next 10 days.

This ruling becomes an important triumph for his political career and reinforces Hugo Archila’s position as representative to the Chamber for Casanare.
