After several hours of dialogue in a meeting between the National Government and the indigenous and peasant communities, an agreement was reached that ends the blockades in the Las Cruces sector, Timbío, Cauca. The parties signed an agreement committing to work together to provide the necessary guarantees in their territories.

«With the joy of the struggle and the mission accomplished, we can tell the comrades of the People’s Congress and the people in general, that after a good day of work, we have achieved the signing of an agreement to install a permanent table of dialogue and agreement,” expressed the community leaders.

Furthermore, as a result of these agreements, the lifting of the blockades in Bogotá, Cauca and Cesar will begin. «Starting this Thursday first thing in the morning, we will begin the gradual process of opening the roads and the lifting of the humanitarian shelters that we installed in different parts of the country, counting on the guarantees, from the Government, so that people can return. to their territories,” they stated.

The dialogue will continue this Thursday starting at 9 in the morning, focused on security issues in the territories and protection mechanisms for leaders. Adelso Gallo, president of the National Agrarian Coordinator, highlighted the effectiveness of the dialogue and thanked the National Government and the entities that accompanied the process.

It should be remembered that the organization had presented a list of requests to the National Government, demanding the dismantling of paramilitarism, changes in the national security doctrine, and urgent protection mechanisms for the defense of life and permanence in the territories. They also requested a national plan to strengthen the People’s Congress, mobilization guarantees, a comprehensive reparation plan, a permanent negotiation table, and compliance with previous agreements.

This agreement represents a significant step towards peace and stability in the region, reflecting the commitment of the communities and the Government in seeking dialogue solutions to the problems that affect the indigenous and peasant territories of Cauca and other regions of the country.
