Biologists will show the diversity of marine species in San Antonio

As every year, World Oceans Day is celebrated. and tomorrow, from 3 to 6 p.m., there will be activities for all audiences, which aim to show the diversity of the sea and the tasks carried out by biologists to preserve the aquatic environment.

The appointment will be in San Antonio Oeste, in the Multipurpose Room of the Technical Education Center No. 19which is at Pablo Torello 745.

There will be samples, interactive activities and will be present a professional team that will answer questions and allow you to learn more about the approach they carry out in the area.

The activity is organized by the Almirante Storni Marine Research Center and the School of Marine Sciences (Escimar). The motto chosen as trigger will be “Awaken new depths”.

Under this banner, the great variety of invertebrates that inhabit these coasts will be shown. The ecological role played by intertidal sponges will be discussed. (which contribute to lowering pollution rates) and will be shown the phases that a clam must go through, from its larval stage to adulthood.

The microscopic universe will also be discussed. The components of plankton and Information will be given about microplastics and the damage they cause.

Finally, you will see stands with skeletons of fish, reptiles and sea turtles. Additionally, they will be listed bird species and there will be data on right whales who visit the San Matías Gulf every year. To schedule, and share between adults and children.
