Cuba and China: exemplary relations of cooperation between countries
Havana, June 7, 2024.- The endearing fraternity with which a great friend, companion and brother of Cuba is received distinguished this Thursday the meeting held in the National Capitol between the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Esteban Lazo Hernández Party, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State, and Ma Hui, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in our country, who concludes – after three years – his diplomatic mission in the Greater of the Antilles.
Lazo Hernández especially recognized the significant contribution of the head of the Chinese diplomatic mission in deepening the unbreakable ties between both countries, under the guidance of the consensus reached between the Presidents, Xi Jinping, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez; based on the consolidation of high-level dialogue and the strength of mutual political trust between both nations.
Likewise, he highlighted his work aimed at expanding and strengthening interparliamentary ties between Cuba and China. “His exemplary management of him recently made him worthy of the Friendship Medal,” awarded by presidential decree, and which has a high meaning for our people, said the head of the Cuban Parliament.
«You have played an essential role, living up to those special relationships between our peoples. We convey the gratitude of Parliament and its deputies for their work,” said Esteban Lazo.
For his part, Ambassador Ma Hui ratified the Asian giant’s invariable support for our people in their fight for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States of America for more than six decades. Furthermore, he stressed that China has always supported Cuba, and will continue to do so, to deepen the close friendship, especially evident with its solidarity in difficult times during the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic and with important donations in the face of the tightening of the blockade. .
«I feel very proud to have been able to begin my first mission as Ambassador in a sister country like Cuba, in addition to witnessing and participating in the development of relations between China and Cuba, which is a true honor.
«In the last three years we have achieved positive results in strengthening our special friendly relations, based on the agreement of the leaders of both countries to build together a community with a shared future, which offers an inexhaustible driving force for the development of binational ties,” he said in his speech.
Also participating in the fraternal meeting were Caridad Diego Bello, president of the Cuba-China Parliamentary Friendship Group; and Jesús Rafael Mora and Marisol Iglesias, director and official of the International Relations Directorate of the Cuban legislature, respectively; as well as other officials from the Chinese Embassy.
For more than 60 years, bilateral ties between Cuba and China have stood out as an example to the world of cooperation between socialist countries and sincere mutual support between developing nations.
