The ‘Valle Oro Puro’ delegation led the contest and shouted champion at the ‘Luz Mery Tristán’ World Cup skating track, after competing with a total of 32 skaters in the junior, youth and senior categories, achieving 29 gold medals, 15 silver and 11 bronze. It was followed by Antioquia, which added 11 gold medals, and Bogotá with 9 gold medals overall.
A total of 422 athletes from 23 skating leagues in the country attended the last scoring event of the 2024 national ranking, in search of places in the Colombian National Team for the World Skate Games Italy 2024.
The Valle del Cauca team, which had the support of the departmental government for its participation, celebrated a new triumph after the title achieved in Cúcuta in 2022, also counting on the support of an interdisciplinary team made up of psychologists, physiotherapists, methodologists, physical trainers, doctor and nutritionist.
“We are very happy to have won at home, to do so convincingly and to shine thanks to that great support. Now the task is to continue projecting ourselves and look for that place in the national tricolor”said skater Nicole Larrahondo.
The Valle del Cauca sprinter Santiago Vásquez was the most outstanding of the contest by winning five gold medals in the youth men’s category. In addition to achieving the titles in the youth and senior categories, the first of great relevance taking into account the projection of the region in the next National Youth Games in the Coffee Region.
