After the acts of violence that have occurred in departments of the Cauca and Valle del Caucathe National Government spoke out and rejected the attacks by criminal groups against the military and the civilian population.

Through a statement issued from the Presidency of the Republic, the National Government rejected “strongly condemn the recent attacks perpetrated against the public force and the civilian population in Popayán and Jamundí.”

In the document, the Presidency assures that those responsible for these events will face “the full weight of the law.”

“These acts of violence that seek to undermine the tranquility of the Colombian people are unacceptable. “Those who choose violence and perpetuate the armed conflict will face the full weight of the law,” the text says.

Added to that, the Government’s statement indicates that it reiterates the “full support for the Military Forceswho are carrying out an effective offensive against the illegal structures that threaten the peace and security of our nation”, while highlighting that they will not cease in their efforts to dismantle “these criminal organizations that, wrongly, chose war for above peace”.

It must be remembered that according to the Military Forces they indicated to the FARC dissidents Jaime Martínez as responsible for these terrorist attackss that occurred in the urban area of ​​the township of Oaks of Jamundí, Valle del Cauca, and against the command of the Police Popayanwhich left a uniformed officer injured.

In that same sense, the authorities indicated that the criminal intention or objective of said illegal organization was directly against the Police, the troops of the National Army but also against the civilian population of the area.
