In a context ecological complex, where climate change and environmental degradation are urgent challenges, more than 3,000 fifth grade students from 47 public and private educational institutions in the capital committed to taking care of the environment and adopting sustainable habits.

The commitment was made on Wednesday, in a ceremony presided over by the mayor Rossana Chahla at the Sports Palace of Parque 9 de Julio. The activity was part of World Environment Day.

Dressed in overalls or uniforms, everyone had a green band across their chest. The students promised to “protect the environment and be faithful defenders of nature from today and forever.” They also took responsibility for adopting and disseminating good environmental practices to transform our planet into a healthy and balanced space.

The mayor thanked the neighbors for their support of the environmental measures. “Many in their homes are already separating the waste so that the municipality can later remove it with the trucks of the Separa program within the four avenues. Very good work is also being done on the eco-exchange points that have been set up in different places in the city, where people go and deposit their bottles, plastics and cardboard, so it can be seen that these measures are generating positive contagion in the community. ”, he commented.

Chahla also highlighted the relevance of the environmental programs underway and their impact on the community. “We want materials such as glass, plastic or cardboard, instead of being buried, to be recycled and reused in a circular economy, since in this way the amount of things with which we contaminate the earth can be reduced,” he summarized. .
