The sale of used cars registered an increase of 6.17% last May compared to the same month last year and 10.81% over the operations carried out in April, reported the Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA).

The entity specified that in May “150,964 used vehicles were sold in Argentina, an increase of 6.17% compared to the same month in 2023 (142,181 units)” and that if compared to April, when 136,230 vehicles were sold, the increase reaches 10.81 percent. He indicated that the provinces with the greatest drop in sales were La Rioja with 26.11%, Formosa with 25.15% and Jujuy with 24.63%, while those that fell the least were CABA with 3.20% and Mendoza with 3. 13%.

In fact, the best-selling used vehicle continues to be the Volkswagen Gol, of which 8,261 units were sold, followed by the Toyota Hilux and the Chevrolet Corsa and Classic, of which 6,100 and 4,504 units were sold respectively. In fourth place was the VW Amarok while the list of the top 10 was completed by the Ford Ranger, the Renault Clio, the Toyota Corolla, the Ford Fiesta, the Ford Focus and the Peugeot 208 in that order, all between 2,895 and 3,814 units.

Faced with the “lack of prices for the same 0 km product (due to modification of the tax base for the calculation of internal taxes), and in the face of generalized inflation in the economy, these types of products have been able to find a price that the market was willing to accept. pay,” he added.

The CCA detailed the variations in sales by province during the first five months of the year, with the largest falls in La Rioja (-26.11%), Formosa (-25.15%) and Jujuy (-24.63%). The smallest declines were recorded in CABA (-3.20%) and Mendoza (-3.13%).

Strictly speaking, the sale of used cars was aligned with the 0 km market, although to a much lesser extent since in May the drop in sales was more moderate compared to previous periods.
